Julie was inspired to rhyme since she was in first grade. She loved the rhythm of rhyme of Dr. Suess and others, and began writing long poems while in elementary school in Michigan. Her dad gave her a rhyming dictionary in the early 60s, and it became her inspiration for a number of poems, two of which were later revised and published (One Hungry Dragon and Santa's Dilemma). Her love of music and rhyming were combined when she began writing songs in 1981; she produced four musical productions or her original work at the high school where she taught English and journalism. One of her productions was later revised into a full-length musical comedy, Singles File, which was presented at three different venues. Four of her six rhyming picture books are about her granddaughters, Annabelle and Maisie. Many children request her books over and over as their bedtime stories, and parents never seem to tire of the fun rhythm and rhyme.
Julie Wenzlick is a retired high school English teacher who has published 6 children's books with three different illustrators. She wrote a produced an original musical comedy in the early 90s, and has composed many songs since then to go with her books. She enjoys presenting her books and songs to elementary students.
